Dr. Breca Tracy, PhD.

Dr. Breca Tracy currently serves as Director of Science & Operations at REGENERATE in Dripping Springs. Breca was raised with her brother, Dr. Chae, in a small town in Oklahoma and moved to Dripping Springs in 2007 after obtaining her Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Dr. Tracy’s graduate work focused on the chemoenzymatic synthesis of glycosaminoglycan (GAG) oligosaccharides and characterization of protein/hyaluronan (known in our clinic as “the rooster comb product”) interactions. Dr. Tracy also holds a M.S. degree from the University of Oklahoma and a B.S. from Stephens College.

Dr. Tracy spent the last 10 years working for a technology innovation and commercialization firm in Austin. While serving as Vice President and Managing Director at Emergent Technologies, Inc., Breca leveraged foundational scientific breakthroughs and transitioned them into commercial products with corporate partners. Dr. Tracy’s main interests have been in product development in the medical field, primarily associated with sugar polymers.

After welcoming their her second daughter into the world, Breca and Gary are excited for her to join family in their next venture with the launch of regenerative medicine therapies, close to home in Dripping Springs.

A little about Dr. Breca: She moved to Columbia, Missouri in 1998 and attended Stephens College. Breca pursued a B.S. in Biological Sciences, while also obtaining dual minors in Visual Arts and Biochemistry. While attending Stephens College, Breca served as Class President of her Junior and Senior Class. She also was an active member of the student council serving as Student Senator, and Captain of her tennis team. Breca has always lived to serve others. During her time in Columbia, she studied the epidemiology of survival at the Cancer Research Center and turned her passion for research into family friendly funding campaigns raising money for cancer research.

After graduating from Stephens in 2002, Breca was accepted to participate in a research program at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center. She pursued research in ophthalmology, cell biology and lastly studied sugar biology, proteins and function. Sugar biology and function is what intrigued Breca, and where she spent the next several years studying the roles of sugars in the body. While in graduate school, Breca was an active member of the student body government serving on many campus and citywide committees, boards and positions. Breca enjoyed being a voice for her college and for the campus.

During Breca’s time away from the office, she loves spending quality time with her family and the outdoors. She and Gary enjoy finding new fun places to eat, to listen to music, and to let their oldest run and play while they enjoy the beautiful Hill Country and amenities Austin has to offer.
