WHAT IS BODYWORK THERAPY?

Conceptually, Bodywork is restoring the body’s communication flow. In order for the body to work as it was designed, information must be transported smoothly and accurately throughout the body.

The body transmits information via:
Connective tissue/fascia
Nervous system
Hormones
Muscles
Blood

Bodywork facilitates the natural healing ability of the body by optimizing these communication systems. The natural flow of communication within the body has to be optimal to achieve our natural state of balance and wellness. Bodywork is manual manipulation and stimulation of connective tissue, otherwise known as fascia. Fascia connects our entire body from head to toe. This connective tissue contains channels rich in information including blood, energy and nourishing fluids. As fascia is released to its natural state, accurate communication throughout the body can be restored. The body relaxes, the mind clams, restoration and healing deepens.

There is researched-based evidence that Bodywork can have the following effects:

  • Increased blood flow locally & regulation of overall circulation

  • Analgesic, or pain relieving, effects via opioid-peptide release

  • Hormonal balance by activating endocrine system through pituitary gland & hypothalamus

  • Down-regulates nervous system by affecting neurotransmitters & neurohormones

  • Optimizes immune system by strengthening immune function on cellular level

  • Relieves tension by stimulating neuro-muscular junction & resetting brain-muscle connection
